Manchester Climbing Centre

Indoor climbing is an exciting, challenging and varied sport with many aspects to it. Manchester Climbing Centre aims to be inclusive to all and welcome all members of the local community and beyond. The centre offers 75 climbing lines for those seeking roped climbing – which are a mixture of top roped and lead lines. The main wall is an amazing 20 metres high, which is one of the biggest lead walls in the UK. Surrounding the main wall are various other climbing lines designed to cater for all abilities. The routes are all changed regularly to keep everything fresh and interesting. The interior of the roof is crafted from amber pine, providing a stunning backdrop to the whole centre. As well as roped climbing, you can also try your hand at ‘bouldering’ – which is climbing without any ropes, but over a crash mat to cushion any falls! Manchester Climbing Centre offers 2 bouldering areas and a traversing room – and the walls are made up of a range of different angles including horizontal roofs and shallow slabs – so you will be well catered for if you like free-styling!

Because climbing requires high levels of trust and co-operation between fellow climbers, it is an excellent activity for corporate team building. The very nature of the activity can build team spirit and aid team bonding – all very valuable attributes within a team that works together. Climbing requires constant communication and you simply have to trust and depend upon your team mates, as well as supporting and encouraging each other. It is also good for colleagues to see each other in a different environment and this can also lead to increased bonds and morale within the team. The skills developed through climbing transfer easily back to the workplace and this can improve productivity and the overall workplace environment.
